What have these processes taught you about your future roles as a technical and professional communicator?
The most important thing I've learned throughout these processes is the importance of being thorough, detail-oriented, and organized. The only work I've done regarding research has been the classic research essay in other English classes, and it was a challenge to learn about each of the research methods, how to form a research design, and how to write a research proposal. I felt that each area required a certain amount of depth and detail that allowed it to be used effectively. Qualitative usability tests, for example, have to be thorough in order to yield the best results. This is a principle that can be applied to many other aspects of life. While writing the proposal, I had to stay organized because of the sheer number of sections and headings I was using. I was combining lots of content together, and it really tested my organizational skills, which is a skill I can use in any career I pursue.
Hey Rylee! I definitely can relate to only haven written classic research essays. This paper was one of the first time's I have really struggled to write concisely. I agree with you that it was challenging at times to stay organized. There is a lot of information to take in and then figure out what to do with it. I also agree that this process required detail oriented processes. I sometimes struggle to focus on processes like this one. This essay definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone. Congrats on finishing!
