I'm excited to begin the revision process and start adding more content to this essay because it's been a very messy process thus far. When I write, I tend to overexplain things and make my sentences longer than they need to be, so I'm going to try and clean that up first and foremost. I need to expand on each of my sources a bit more as well, but the reason I didn't do that is because I fall into the trap of overexplaining there as well. Sometimes I just write, and write, and write, and it gets out of control because I just have to say exactly what I want to say in the exact way I want to say it. I'm very picky in that regard. What I have written is a very, very, very rough draft, and my work usually improves as I go through more and more rounds of editing. I think it's going to take a few attempts to make this as clean as possible, but we'll just have to see where this goes.
Hi Rylee, I enjoyed reading your blog post on revisions. It was interesting to learn about your writing process and the things you find challenging. I wish I had the problem of overwriting but I don't. I feel like most often I struggle with figuring out ways to express my thoughts into writing. For me, it's difficult to find the right words all the time. However, I can relate to your work improving through more and more rounds of editing. I think my writing is the same way. The more I revise it the better it becomes.
ReplyDeleteHey Rylee! I can definitely relate to feeling like the revision process has been a messy one. It is hard to bring all of the ideas together into one concise piece of writing. I also fall victim to over explaining my thoughts. I definitely think your plan to work through what you struggle with sounds like a successful one. All we can do is continue to make our writing the best it can possibly be. Even if that means lots of revisions. I have no doubt that you will write a very well rounded paper. Keep pushing!
ReplyDeleteI totally feel you when you said that it's a messy process! Writing a big project like this always makes me a little overwhelmed, too. I have no doubt your writing will improve as you edit.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading your finished project! You can do it!
